Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
Lead with Experience

The AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program pairs thousands of Americans aged 55 and older with organizations making change in communities across the country.

AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers who serve in our RSVP program choose how, where, and when they want to serve, with commitments ranging from a few hours to 40 hours per week. You can find an opportunity with many local organizations we work with that see service as a solution to local, regional, and national challenges. AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers themselves report better health and longevity having served their community.

Retired Senior Volunteer Program is one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation for people 55+. Frederick County's senior community is diverse, capable, and possesses a wealth of knowledge and experience that needs to be used to make a positive impact on our communities and the lives of our neighbors. Our RSVP program aims to address Frederick County's most pressing issues, including:

  • Equity in Access to Healthcare Services (outreach, case work, advocacy, referral services, etc.)

  • Aging in Place (isolation, disability, COVID-19, etc.)

  • Substance Abuse (opioid crisis, anti-tobacco, prescription drug abuse, mental health, etc.)

  • Elderly Fraud (financial literacy education, prevention, etc.)

  • Economic Opportunity (financial literacy education, tutoring, mentorship, ESL, etc.)

  • Food Insecurity (distribution, education, etc.)

  • Digital Divide (tech. literacy, education, etc.)
